Oh my word!!!!!!
Letter dated 1 Oct from SSAFA who are apparently working in partnership with the Royal Air Force Community Support team:
"Dear Michelle, further to my visit with you I have tried to contact you several times and have not received a reply. Therefore I am assuming that you no longer require support from SSAFA and I am intending to close your case within the next 14 days unless I hear from you otherwise".
Really....REALLY!!!!! Absolutely gobsmacked and angered by this letter which proves the lack of support out there for 'us'!
I received a visit from SSAFA on 11 Aug and received a copy of the recommendation report. Within the report amongst other findings it stated I was, and needed to be driven to my appointments due to my inability to do so myself. This is due to the recurring nightmares and the medication I am currently on which makes me feel tired all the time. SSAFA also recommended and try to arrange a 'Therapeutic Placement' which I have yet to hear about. This placement was to try to help me leave the house and find some sort of routine because I was in a rut and imprisoned in my flat. The report originator, my support network, stated as a recommendation that 'SSAFA will continue to support on a regular basis'.
I heard absolutely nothing via telephone, email or otherwise from my caseworker since that first visit, until I emailed her for help on 24 Sep (prior to this letter being received)!! I emailed her asking for help with my travel problems attempting to attend my counselling sessions which I have already mentioned in 2 previous posts. I received an email back from her stating she was off for a week but would ask a colleague to look into it. If she had been trying to contact me then she could have mentioned it then but there was nothing. Back to the transport issue, the colleague referred me back to the medical centre so I was back at square one!!! A 5 hr single trip train journey with 2 stops was recommended so I was no better off. That is where my SSAFA support lay until this letter was received!!!!
Oh how I feel loved and supported by the military I served for the best 20 or so years, and VERY angry!!!!!!
